I thought the list might find this short post from the AmAstro list
about 3200 Phaethon to be of interest. I wish I had known about this
observing opportunity earlier.

Got a couple of hours in last night and spotted a few early Geminids and
an interesting variety of other types, mostly quite faint but with a few
exceptions. I'll report further after I transcribe my tape.

Subject: [amastro] Observation Phaeton

hello

The asteroid Phaeton (source of the Geminids) was visible this week in
Leo.

I had no good weather, much clouds, and it was waiting for a minimum of
clear holes. But this night, almost the last chance, I was sure I
spotted him. Even the little movement was visible. I found it a bit
brighter than mag 13.3 in the efemerides. Happy I found him, I never
thought he could be seen...

clear skies,

david.
